John Muir Trail

thru-hike, july–august 2025

From July 25 to August 19, 2025, I thru-hiked the John Muir Trail: 211 miles from Yosemite Valley to the summit of Mount Whitney. The alpine lakes are incredible and the landscapes are surreal — Cathedral Lakes at golden hour, Evolution Lake and the chain of lakes below Muir Pass, alpenglow at Rae Lakes. The final morning I climbed Mount Whitney in the dark to catch the sunrise from the top, and the colors were some of the most incredible I have ever seen.
