Lost Coast

The Lost Coast Trail follows the wildest stretch of California’s coastline, where the King Range drops straight into the Pacific and the highway gives up entirely. I backpacked it in May 2026: black sand beaches, tidepools and sea stacks, wildflower bluffs, and sunsets straight into the ocean.
